When Aids suddenly looms and shudders his household, a young boy is tasked with nursing and protecting his mother from the hands of his abusive father, poverty and from the imminentdeadly disease that threatens to rip away what’s most precious to him. Jabu finds himself trapped in a tough emotional carnage - a burden no young boy should carry. Will his attempts to mend his broken family succeed? Jabu highlights the story of a young boy, hopeless to change his drinking father but passionate in his quest to save his mother to see tomorrow. Written to encourage men to stop domestic and child abuse to treat HIV/AIDS and to love our partners with care.

The young creative film and theatre-maker Sipho Nuse was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa in the outskirts of Nyanga East and is currently pursuing a film production degree at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.Due to the love of arts and storytelling at a very young age, while attending Walter Teka Primary School, he was involved with the school drama program for a year, acting and dancing in school plays.That’s where his burning passion for arts felt real. In high school (2012) he joined the Western Cape’s Mass participation; Opportunity and access; Development and growth Programme (MOD) a platform that catered him an opportunity to perform in big, professional stages such as the Artscape and Baxter theatre. Over the years, his talent grew vastly he began writing and directing his own stage plays which were performed in streets and churches.When he was in matric he decided to merge his love for theatre with film, he participated in an after school film program which was presented by Shoot-the-breeze productions, where he learned the essential skills of filmmaking. After matric, he attended the Film School Africa College to study film production, due to lack of funds he couldn’t return to complete his 2nd/3rd year. He alternatively registered at a public tertiary,The Cape Peninsula University of Technology to further his studies. Sipho, over the years, has had the privilege to direct and stage plays at the Baxter, Artscape and Masque Theatre under the umbrella of the Shakespeare School’s Festival, Artscape Drama Festival, Artscape Arts Festival and Zabalaza Festival. He has also directed films and documentaries,Sipho's recent work is “IXHOBA” (documentary) and “JABU” (short indie film) which took Best Film (3rd Place award) at the 1Minute International Film Festival 2018 (Cape Town) and in 2019, it took Young Filmmaker award at 1Minute International Film Festival (Europe, Bulgaria - Sofia) and recently took BEST ACTION DRAMA FILM award at the Cote d, Azur WebFest (France) 2019. Sipho hopes to pursue both indigenous and global storytelling through the art of cinema and stage.
