The Dead Are Silent

Based on a classic short story by Austrian author and dramatist Arthur Schnitzler “The dead are silent” tells the story of a woman who struggles between her passionate lover and devoted husband and that struggle will lead her to the moment where she has to face her deepest fears. “The dead are silent” is brought to life in collaboration with our Director of photography Glen Miller (Titanic, Dogma) as a set in 1950s film-noir.

Reading was always one of my favorite hobbies. The inspiration for “The dead are silent” film also came from the book. One day I was sitting in a library reading the analysis for the “Eyes wide shut” movie by Stanley Kubrick and I have discovered that he has based his work on the novel “Dream story” by an Austrian author and dramatist Arthur Schnitzler. I picked up the book with his stories and fell in love with “The dead are silent” because it was the classic story of a love triangle told with the different angle. I wanted the story with strong emotions and characters, story about love and death and this book had it all. I waned to keep the main line of the book with some changes I had to make due to the decision to set my story in 1950s to give it a certain look and feel. I’ve talked to cinematographer Glen D. Miller (Titanic, Dogma) about the project and it got him interested. Collaboration with him brought the vision of “The dead are silent” as a film-noir to life. Talented team was determined to make a quality film even if took long hours and hard work. But we were determined to finish it and not only to tell the great story but also to deliver a great quality movie to all people who love film noir and psychological thrillers.
